Burn Fat 4 Dummies – know your body type

Dr William Sheldon, a psychologist now famous for observing physiques and relating them to personality traits coined the phrases; Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph. He believed that body shapes related to personality traits. What does this have to do with dieting you may ask. Well the body shapes have survived long after sheldon’s death in 1977 and are being used to describe the physiques of men and women.

What is your body type?

Endomorph:

The endomorph has a round shaped body with shorter arms and legs and bulkier. The fat is concentrated around the abdominal region. The waist is high compared to the rest of the body and the head is quite round and spherical.
The endomorph needs to concentrate on losing the fat and turning it into muscle. To avoid putting more weight on and slowing down the metabolism the endomorph needs to lower the amount of calories they eat and do more aerobic exercise.
Traits of the Endomorph:

• Generally overweight
• Gain fat easily
• Harder to lose weight
• Slow rate of metabolism
• Tend be stronger

Jack Black, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Danny DeVito, Dr Phil, maralyn Monroe

Ectomorph:

The Ectomorph seem to have a delicate body structure and are often perceived as skinny. They tend to have longer bodies and drooping shoulders. They find it hard to gain muscle and possibly find it hard to put weight due to their high metabolic rate.

The Ectomorph needs to concentrate on building up their muscle mass and putting on extra weight to turn into muscle.

Traits of the Ectomorph:

• Thin and fragile body structure
• High rate of metabolism
• Strength level is low
• Find it difficult to gain weight
• Slender Muscle build

Famous Ectomorphs:

Ed Norton, Lisa Kudrow, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman,

Mesomorph:

The mesomorph seems to have the perfect body shape with the proper build and the right amount of muscle mass. They find it easy to lose weight and are generally quite fit and strong.

The mesomorph is in a good position when it comes to losing weight as it should be a case of ging to the gym and burning off the fat with plenty of aerobic exercise.

Mesomorph traits:

• Broad shoulders
• Muscular build
• High metabolic rate
• Good body posture
